Catherine Lowry, LCSW-C provides clinical consultation in Ego State Therapy for mental health practitioners. Clinical consultation may take place as a one-time consult about a particular case, or as an on-going process that allows the practitioner to begin fully integrating this approach into their work.
Catherine has chosen Ego State Therapy as the core approach for her therapeutic work because it is (1) compatible with other theoretical approaches, and (2) offers unique insights into working with clients—especially those with a trauma history.
In addition to Ego State Therapy, Catherine utilizes EMDR in the treatment of trauma and dissociative disorders. The alternating bilateral stimulation used in EMDR softens dissociative barriers so that deeper material can be accessed. She uses protocols from both EMDR and Ego State, depending on the exact clinical situation.
Catherine has over 20 years of clinical experience. After graduating from Catholic University with an MSW, Catherine worked in a variety of settings – schools, foster care, community mental health – before launching her private practice in 1998. She trained in EMDR, and studied Ego State Therapy with Dr. Mark Lawrence over a 10-year period which is where she got her deep grounding in this approach.
Because of her personal commitment to ongoing training and education, Catherine takes great pleasure in sharing her experience with others to expand the knowledge base of the profession.
Catherine Lowry works with clients from throughout the Washington DC metropolitan area and Silver Spring, Maryland. Please feel free to contact Catherine with your questions about clinical consultation for Ego State Therapy.
